When you arrive in Galveston, you will be driven through the downtown area to see all the Christmas decorations and then be taken to the Garten Verein – an historic turn-of-the-century German built ballroom facility. Next, see the Queen arrive in her horse drawn carriage with the guest of honor - Henry Dickens Hawksley who is playing the role of his great-great grandfather, Charles Dickens.

Feast on fine food and enjoy a cheerful evening in the festive atmosphere with Queen Victoria and her entourage at the head table. The Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” will then be recited by Charles Dickens (played by his great-great Grandson). Old fashion Christmas toys are given out and you can have a copy of A Christmas Carol signed by Charles Dickens’ great-great grandson. Includes wine, champagne, and an elegant 4 course meal with the Christmas Carol recited in 3 parts between each course of your meal. You can come dressed in Victorian era dress or modern fare as you desire. This is sure to be a wonderful holiday experience that you will not forget!

Itinerary: Buses leave at 5:30 pm – arrive at approximately 6:30 pm with time for a driving tour of downtown with the Christmas lights and decorations. Dinner is from 7:00 pm to around 9:30 pm. The buses would leave Galveston at approximately 10:00 pm and will be back in Houston around 11:00 pm.

You may join us in Galveston if you live close to the area.

Cost: Only $25 per person (normally $65 per person – sponsored by STS-AIChE), and we must limit attendance to two persons per registration. Signup will be available following the November 6 STS meeting.
