Todd Willman has 25 years at EPCON International developing fluid flow, simulation, and thermophysical properties software for chemical engineers working in the oil, gas and chemical processing industries, currently in the role of Director of Development and Engineering.  In cooperation with Shell Global Solutions, Todd helped develop and manage a practical fluid flow simulation modeling service to improve plant reliability, safety, and profitability. As Chair-Elect of the South Texas Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Todd has developed closer relationships with key employers in the greater Houston area through sponsored meetings with Shell and KBR.  He holds three patents for process engineering software and has co-authored several papers on the practical application of fluid flow technology to solve root-cause process plant problems. In addition to AIChE, his professional society memberships include American Petroleum Institute, Gas Processor’s Association, and UNIFAC Consortium.

Victoria (Vickie) Rockwell is Senior Manager of Investment Development, Air Liquide USA LLC. She is a Fellow and a Governor of ASME, as well as past Senior Vice President of Strategic Management for ASME. Victoria has a BSME from Union College, Schenectady, NY and a BS in Applied Science and Mathematics from Empire State College, Saratoga Springs, NY. Other activities and awards include co-chair of the 2005 Engineer’s Week and recipient of the 2002 American Association of Engineering Societies Chairman’s Award.

Fred stoerkel Fred Stoerkel is a retired mechanical engineer from Houston Lighting & Power Company (CenterPoint Energy).  He worked with fossil-fueled and nuclear power plant projects. In addition to ECH, he is active in ASME, Science & Engineering Fair of Houston, and other community and civic events. He is a past President of ECH.  Fred is a graduate of Texas A&M University and a registered professional engineer.

Glenn carlson Glenn Carlson is Director of Transportation for Binkley & Barfield, Inc., a civil engineering firm specializing in transportation; water resources waste water treatment and MEP feasibility studies, planning, design and construction supervision. Mr. Carlson has worked on a variety of land development, public works, industrial and commercial development engineering assignments in capacities as staff engineer, project engineer and design manager. Engineering experience has been in the Oklahoma, U.S. Gulf Coast region, Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Germany. Current professional practice is primarily in design of urban transportation facilities.

  Dr. Carolyn Sumners is Director of Astronomy at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Adjunct Professor in Physics and Astronomy at Rice University.  At the Museum, she has taught adults, astronauts, and over a million students. She has written trade books, a textbook series, and over 50 planetarium shows. Her inventions include the Challenger Learning Center, which has been replicated over 50 times, and the portable digital theater. She has also conducted research in archaeoastronomy using the planetarium to replicate the night sky at critical moments in history.

Larry spears Larry Spears, Ph.D. and Director, Science Engineering Fair of Houston. Dr. Spears has served as the Executive Director of the Science Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) since 1985. He is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Houston-Downtown, where he serves as the Director of their Urban Center for Student Success in Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology; Director of Expanding Pathways to Success in Science; and, Co-Director of the Scholars Academy. SEFH is a regional science and engineering fair started by ECH in partnership with Houston ISD and The Houston Post in 1959. The Fair is affiliated with the INTEL International SEF and has about 200 participating public, private and charter schools, grades 7 - 12. It is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization and funded by contributions from many local businesses, foundations and professional societies. The Fair is held during March each year at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.

Deborah silvi

Deborah Silvi is a technical publications manager at BMC Software where she has worked for 14 years. She has been in the technical communication profession as a technical writer, consultant, and manager, and a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) for 20 years. She was awarded STC Associate Fellow in 2002. She received a BA from the University of Houston in Political Science and Sociology, and MBA in Finance. Her professional interests include documentation performance measurement (scorecard) to support business priorities, structured authoring and content management, process improvement, customer advocacy, performance management, technical career path for writers, and support of the technical communication profession.
